যুক্তরাজ্যের ক্ষমতাসীন দল কনজারভেটিভ পার্টির নেতা এবং দেশটির পরবর্তী প্রধানমন্ত্রী হিসেবে ব্রিটিশ পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী লিজ ট্রাসের নাম ঘোষণা হতে পারে সোমবারই। গত শুক্রবার সন্ধ্যায় কনজারভেটিভ পার্টির নেতৃত্বের দৌড়ের ভোটাভুটি শেষ হয়েছে। সোমবার সেই ফল ঘোষণা করার কথা।
কনজারভেটিভ পার্টির নতুন প্রধান যিনি নির্বাচিত হবেন, তিনিই যাবেন ১০ নম্বর ডাউনিং স্ট্রিটে। খবর রয়টার্স ও বিবিসির। প্রায় দুই মাস ধরে চলা নেতা নির্বাচনের এই প্রক্রিয়ায় চূড়ান্ত ধাপের প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় ছিলেন পররাষ্ট্রমন্ত্রী লিজ ট্রাস এবং সাবেক চ্যান্সেলর ঋষি সুনাক। তাদের মধ্যে লিজ ট্রাসই এগিয়ে আছেন।
মন্দার মুখোমুখি হওয়া যুক্তরাজ্যে এখন মূল্যস্ফীতির সংকট আর শিল্প খাতে অস্থিরতা চলছে, নতুন প্রধানমন্ত্রীকে এসব সমস্যার মোকাবিলা করতে হবে। সোমবার ব্রিটিশ সময় বেলা সাড়ে ১১টায় ক্ষমতাসীন কনজারভেটিভ পার্টির নতুন প্রধানের নাম ঘোষণা করা হবে।
